This project was an Industry Branding design brief to create business stationery for an ‘around the world sailor’. I had created the fictional character of Jack Marina as the sailor to give a sense of identity to the brand and emphasise the connotations of the name ‘Marina’ linking it to the sea, where a sailor spends much of their time.

Stationery designed for this project included a Letterhead, Business Cards, Pin Badge, Umbrella & a Phone Case. When working on this project, the key thing to remember was the practicality behind these individual items of stationery. For example, printing the business card on plastic as opposed to paper in case of it getting wet and damaged when the sailor is at sea; this would make the business cards more sustainable and long lasting and using an umbrella to protect from sudden rainfall or splashes from the sea.

For the design process, I created a logo which captured what the branding is about without having to explain it, by illustrating imagery relating to the sailor lifestyle and incorporating an element of waves consistent throughout each piece of stationery to tie the brand together.

Software used in this project – Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator.
