This project was part of a global typography challenge #35DaysofGurmukhi. This challenge allowed artists, illustrators and graphic designers to express their love for the Gurmukhi alphabet by using creative means to portray each letter. The Gurmukhi script is tightly associated with the Sikh religion and is often known as the Panjabi Language.
This specific project used both digital & traditional forms of art to the create the script by exploring different tools of graphics and typography. Focusing on intricate mark-making, block print, floral and overall vibrant patterns.
Participation in this challenge was to help revive the lost art of Gurmukhi and highlight the language/script to a wider audience, giving it recognition and making the masses aware of its existence.
Software used in this project – Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator.
